The 1080 Debate

Arthur Hinds is not a man to take a backwards step. Those in the anti-1080 camp who appear to have such a cavalier regard for the rule of law, should.

I don’t wish to take sides in the argument – all that needs to be said has already been said and there can hardly be anyone likely to alter their point of view as a result of the heated rhetoric. What I do know is that we have an elected Government that makes the rules, and apart from Pinocchio of Ohariu, it appears to support Dr Jan Wright’s recently expressed view on the subject. If those antagonistic to 1080 wish to change this situation, they should seek to change the Government.

Any other solution based on violence, threats and aggression will be counter-productive, if not terminal to their cause.  We live in a democracy after all.

At this date it appears the antis took your advice Bill. The Graf lads stood for gov. but didn't get in. Indeed they came way behind. So does this mean the electorate repudiates their reasoning? Noted that the misguided soul who attacked Arthur has been sentenced in the Waihi(?) court and only one newspaper printed his sentence.
