The Fluoride Debate

Quote of relevance from this week's Time:

"The only problem with treating factual matters of science like opinion debates is that as soon as you do that, anti-science has already won. Let The View on-the-one-hand, on-the-other hand as many hot-button social issues as it wants. A virus doesn't have two hands."

Okay, the discussion was about vaccination, but the principle is the same. The story was related specifically to one Jenny McCarthy who has replaced Barbara Walters on an ABC show The View. "McCarthy is a telegenic, funny and outspoken ex Playboy model who happens to be the single most visible celebrity spokesperson for the discredited, literally dangerous belief that child-hood vaccines can cause autism."
