Thames High School - Top Performance

What a great story arises from the full page ad. in the HH on Friday congratulating the10 scholarship winners that have emerged this year at THS - this town just cannot have enough news like this - even if the school had to pay for it!

Dave Sim appears to have done a great job quietly but surely bringing standards around in the face of some pretty adverse statistics in the past, and is to be lauded for this particular achievement.

Thames High is such an important part of this town servicing such a wide area, and has always been subject to unfair comparison with Hauraki Plains College. HPC has tended in the past to inadvertantly poach some top students from around Thames - its results have appeared to reflect its high median income catchment throughout the plains.

It is really encouraging to see the success of students that Thames HS is now producing in all walks - may this be enhanced by this recent crop of scholars as they move through their university careers.
