Swimming Pool

I like to keep track of the cost of pools built, or being built elsewhere.

Here is the costing of a proposed 25m indoor pool for Kerikeri. Both look light on to me, but it gives some idea of what we are in for in the years ahead.

"The committee has now started a three-month consultation exercise to find out what locals want in a pool complex and how much extra they would be prepared to pay in rates.

The proposal is for a 25m eight-lane lap pool, a learners' pool, and a family pool possibly including a lazy river and a spa, costing $12-13 million. The council is proposing an $8 million alternative.

Of course, the current enthusiasm for an indoor sports facility for Zoom Zone appears to have all the running. The majority of population being in the aged category, this should be very well received! And note that the Zoom Zone proposal that is to be presented on 24 June anticipates draining the TUGPRA account down to $.5m.
