DP Panel

Further to my previous post submitters were advised today that the Hearings will now start on 16 September.

The notification included advice that the Hearings Panel will include Mark Farnsworth (Chair), Ian Munro and Cr Tony Fox .

I have been informed that Cr Goudie resigned today, and was immediately replaced by Cr Fox.

That is a good outcome - her presence on the Panel was untenable in view of the her past statements regarding the District Plan, and involvement with the stetting up of the pressure group known as CLOUT.

It may be assumed that the Public Excluded item dealt with on 13 August referred in my last post related to the legal advice received regarding her continued involvement on the Panel, and the likelihood of a successful appeal to the Environment Court against whatever determinations resulted based on that involvement.

We may also assume that there will be substantial fury surrounding this challenge that I believe was principally instigated by Dal Minogue - a submitter. Her supporters, of whom there are many around the Peninsula will be equally dismayed, and looking for a scapegoat(s). Their desire for a totally laissez faire Plan was well signalled.

Watch your back Dal - these people do not take prisoners - we know that from past experience. On the other hand, Tony Fox had better prepare himself for all manner of pressure being applied by this same grouping, all of which I am sure he will resist.

With out the smarts.

Yes, it would appear that Goudie, in typical Goudie fashion, foolishly overplayed her hand with the Districts land-care groups to a point where she ruled herself out any decision-making on the District Plan. She is hoisted on her petard!

I guess Thames has one more historical artefact to add to a long list....

Begs the question -- did Goudie fill out the TCDC pecuniary interest register correctly when elected last year, for example regarding her involvement with CLOUT [and its subsequent offspring] and any other 'political grouping' , such as Focus NZ which she joined in 2012 [Wikipedia]?
What other, if any, Hearing committee meetings has she compromised with her conflict of interest over the past 12 months?

I think it's time people woke up to just how (redacted) Sandra Goudie really is.

For those who don't realise it, try and look behind thelong practiced facade of political bullshit to the real person.

You won't see much except a (redacted) turned to the absolute best effect.

And by being so brash most people skip right 'graceless', thinking she must be more than she is.

Her District Plan palaver, which must be one of the biggest 'shoot yourself in the foot' moments ever witnessed in District politics, might finally open some eyes and minds to the truth.

(TTGR - Please note that I cannot allow some of your more colourful language much as you may consider it 'reasonable.' Thus the redactions - BB).

She has previous form.

Quite the bombast but without any polish inherent charm.

Yes, Bombast without charm or substance.

SG = Silly Girl.

But there is more to this is than flippancy, no matter how well deserved.

On the serious side, there is a real problem when a Councillor (redacted - "appears" [BB]) to make themselves the 'hired gun' for a bunch of wanna-be millionaires or multi-millionaires, wanting to increase their wealth by blatantly attempting to to manipulating the Councils District Plan.
