'Lets' Revealed, and Hives Off!

''Lets' (Denis Tegg) has decided to come out from behind the curtain, and at the same time start his own blog to get his views across to a wider audience.

I am grateful for Dennis having taken up the invitation to test some of his views here - they were nothing if not refreshing, and caused a certain amount of interplay through 'comments' with people expressing a different viewpoint - all good. Dennis views are always interesting and relevant.

I hope that people will take up the opportunity to view his new blog at You can pick up a link anytime form my link list on the right hand side of this page.

Good luck Dennis - I can see a few healthy discussions in the offing, starting with his timely post today on the earthquake risk facing Thames and its environs.

What has happened over the last 48 hours should be a timely reminder that we are by no means out of the loop when it comes to risk of major subduction - readers will recall that I have in the past drawn attention to the Kerepehi Fault that appears to pose far greater risk that previously thought.

Dennis is correct - Council staff have paid a disproportionate level of attention to the Tsunami risk on the East Coast, while apearing to ignore the fault-risk facing Thames. It is time for this to change.
