Robert Jeffares in Kaikoura

Readers may be interested to know that erstwhile Thames radio man Robert Jeffares was shoulder tapped immediately following the earthquake to take over and run the public service radio station in Kaikoura.

He went down, set up the transmitter and has been broadcasting public ervice stuff since, and achieved considerable plaudits for the manner in which he stepped into thew breach.

I expect to see him back at the media table in Council next Tuesday, and will no doubt be subjected to countless 'war stories' related to his sojourn down south in the war zone.

Robert mentiuoned the considerable assistance he received from Civil Defence people here, and Drew Mehrtens in particular before he took relating the essential services that would be needed.

Good show Robert.
