New Chief Executive

With the appointment of Rob Williams, currently CEO at Taupo as our new CEO, here are favourable comments on him from his previous employer - the Mayor at Kapiti - Clayton Stent, in 2007 on his appointment to Taupo.

Group Manager to be CE for Taupo

Kapiti Coast District Council’s Group Manager Community Assets & Services Rob Williams has resigned to take up the position of Chief Executive for Taupo District Council, Kapiti Coast’s Acting Chief Executive, Kevin Jefferies, announced today

Taupo District Mayor Clayton Stent announced the appointment at a Council meeting yesterday.

“It will be really hard to leave Kapiti as it’s such a fabulous place and the last two years working with all the staff at KCDC have been rewarding and enjoyable,” Rob Williams said

Rob said he and his family were excited about his being offered the opportunity to serve the Taupo District community, and are looking forward to the challenges the new location and Chief Executive’s role will present.

Kapiti Coast District Mayor Alan Milne said, “Rob’s expertise in both engineering and service delivery has been of significant benefit to me, our Council and the community.

“In a short time he has implemented a real culture change and he will be very difficult to replace. Taupo, has made a good choice and I know Rob will respond to their challenges.”

Mr Williams will take up his new role in mid-April.

A further eight years at Taupo sounds like a pretty good preparation, so I think we should be mildly  hopeful that Leach/French/McLean have done a good job on this occasion - whether it is sufficient to make up for their last debacle is yet to be seen.
