Kuranui Slip Looks Serious

A cursory glance at the this mornings slip at Kuranui Bay looks bad.

Th road is down to one lane, and maybe no-lane as trucks are brought in to remove the debris.

What gives the appearance of a major problem for the engineers - it is a Transport NZ responsibility, is the large overhang that has been revealed and some fairly substantial boulders that will need to be removed - one in a particular.

I would need very strong digger protection to convince me to work on this one - it is a doozy!

What is does show is just how vulnerable we are north of the Kuranui. Anything bigger and our only access to town would be through Tapu-Coroglen, and severely restrict access to Coromandel.

Transport NZ and our Council need to take a very close look at this bottleneck - it is dangerous and unacceptable in this day and age.
