Aquaculture Project Emerges

HH readers will have observed the WRC advertisement in last Friday's issue concerning the invitation for "tenders" for the in the 240h site allocated for commercial aquaculture for "fed marine farming." A further 60h has already been allocated to Te Ohu Kaimoana Trustee Ltd. in accordance with the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004.

The successful tenderer(s) will be issued an aquaculture authorisation to apply for a resource consent for a term of 20 to 35 years, lapsing after 2 years if not taken up in that time.

There is virtually no other information on the relevant website, other than it closes at 5pm on 13 April. Here is the link to the WRC website - it contains little useful iinformation.

If anyone out there has more information, I would appreciate it - thanks Geoff!
